Rep. Ritchie Torres, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 15th district and resident of The Bronx, recently addressed several policy issues and community celebrations in a series of posts on his official social media account.

On September 15, 2025, Torres commented on the use of new technology for public safety: “Common sense dictates that drone technology should be harnessed to scan every elevated structure with a line of sight to a target. If drones can enable the early detection and prevention of assassination attempts, why not use them?”

The following day, on September 16, 2025, Torres highlighted Hispanic Heritage Month by recognizing the contributions of Latino communities in his home borough: “The Bronx is home to one of the largest and most dynamic Latino communities in America. Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the families and neighbors whose hard work, culture, and contributions strengthen our borough and our nation.”

On September 17, 2025, he turned attention to housing affordability issues: “As a product of public housing, the affordability crisis is not abstract to me. Millions depend on affordable housing programs to survive. We must protect and expand them.”

Torres has served as the representative for New York’s 15th District since replacing José E. Serrano in 2021. Born in The Bronx in 1988 and currently residing there at age 35, Torres has often emphasized his personal connection to local issues such as affordable housing.
