Representative Ritchie Torres, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 15th District since 2021, recently addressed several community and policy issues through a series of posts on social media. Torres, born and residing in The Bronx, has been vocal about the potential effects of proposed federal legislation and his ongoing engagement with local institutions.
On July 11, 2025, Torres visited St. Barnabas Hospital to highlight concerns regarding proposed changes to Medicaid. He stated: “At St. Barnabas Hospital today raising the alarm about the disastrous implications of Trump’s Big Ugly Bill on Medicaid recipients in the Bronx”.
Two days later, on July 13, 2025, Torres reiterated his stance on Medicaid protections via social media: “Make no mistake: an attack on Medicaid is an attack on each and every one of us.”
Also on July 13, 2025, Torres shared his experience visiting a local religious institution: “Honored to visit New Testament Temple Church of God and Pastor Paul Peart, a pillar of faith and service in our community.”
Torres succeeded José E. Serrano as representative for New York’s 15th district in 2021.
