Rep. Ritchie Torres, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 15th district since 2021, has recently addressed issues related to air quality in restaurants and government spending priorities through a series of posts on his social media account.

On July 22, 2025, Torres wrote, “Outdated kitchen equipment pollutes air quality in restaurants and across the surrounding communities. My new bill, the CHEFS Act, would help small businesses upgrade to cleaner and more modern technology.”

Two days later, on July 24, he questioned federal budget decisions with another post: “Is it fair to subsidize luxury aircraft for billionaires at the cost of savagely defunding healthcare, food, and energy — the essentials for working families?” He followed this message minutes later with a tweet containing only a link: “https://t.co/Ng6gJRIMfF”.

Torres has served as a member of Congress since succeeding José E. Serrano in 2021. Born in The Bronx in 1988, Torres continues to reside there while representing his community at the federal level.
