Rep. Ritchie Torres, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 15th district since 2021 and a Bronx native, used his social media platform this week to address several national issues, including transparency on the Jeffrey Epstein case, environmental policy changes under the Trump administration, and the ongoing importance of Medicare and Medicaid.
On July 28, Torres posted a brief message calling for public disclosure of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein: “Release the Epstein files.”
Two days later, on July 30, Torres criticized recent actions by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) during Donald Trump’s presidency. He wrote: “Trump’s EPA just moved to repeal the endangerment finding, a scientific foundation for our climate protections. This is a reckless anti-science move that risks setting back countless critical climate provisions across the US. This is disgraceful.”
Later that same day, Torres highlighted the anniversary of two major federal health programs while expressing concern about proposed legislative changes affecting healthcare access: “As of today, Medicare and Medicaid have been saving lives for 60 years — especially all across the Bronx. As Trump’s so-called Big Beautiful Bill is set to rip health care from the needy to pay for tax cuts for billionaires, defending Medicare and Medicaid from GOP assault is”
Torres has served in Congress since replacing José E. Serrano in 2021 and remains an active voice on both local and national matters from his home borough of The Bronx.
