Rep. Ritchie Torres, who represents New York’s 15th district in the U.S. Congress, posted on his social media accounts about recent federal funding for youth violence prevention and raised questions regarding unusual trading activity ahead of a major geopolitical announcement.

On April 13, 2026, Torres announced new support for a local initiative: “This morning, I had the honor of joining Lincoln Hospital to announce $350,000 in federal funding we secured for Guns Down, Life Up, a program that treats violence as a public health crisis and gives South Bronx youth the counseling, mentorship, and support they deserve.”

The following day, April 14, he commented on suspicious market activity related to international developments: “Hours before the U.S.-Iran ceasefire was announced, traders placed an approximately $950 million position on declining oil prices. Either that is the most fortunate coincidence in the history of energy markets, or someone had information they should not have had. Torres has represented New York’s 15th District since 2021 after succeeding José E. Serrano. Born in The Bronx in 1988 and currently residing there at age 35, Torres continues to focus his legislative efforts on issues impacting his home community.
