Rep. Ritchie Torres, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 15th district, addressed concerns over gun violence and immigration enforcement in a series of posts on September 26, 2025.

On September 26, Torres wrote, “Yesterday, I convened a community roundtable in the Northeast Bronx to address the epidemic of gun violence facing our borough, city, and nation. The Bronx has borne the brunt of this crisis for far too long. I’m committed to doing my part, working hand in hand with community https://t.co/rUxw5CD8FN”.

Later that day, Torres posted another message highlighting an immigration case: ” ICE is targeting a Bronx student who followed the rules. Dylan Lopez Contreras came to this country legally under humanitarian parole, attended court when required, enrolled in school, and tried to build a life in New York City. Now, he is facing deportation by the Trump” (September 26).

Torres has represented New York’s 15th District since 2021 after succeeding José E. Serrano. He was born in The Bronx in 1988 and continues to reside there while serving his constituents.
