The New York Rangers will play the Washington Capitals on Tuesday evening in Washington, D.C., with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on MSG 2 and ESPN 1050 AM radio.

The Rangers enter the matchup having collected points in 10 of their last 15 games, posting an 8-5-2 record during that span. They have also won four of their past six road contests. Defenseman Carson Soucy is set to reach a career milestone by skating in his 400th NHL game.

New York currently shares the league lead in road wins with 13 and is tied for third place in road points at 27. The team’s nine regulation victories away from home rank fourth among all NHL clubs. Their faceoff win percentage on the road stands at 56.1%, which is third best in the league, while their overall faceoff percentage of 54.2% also ranks third.

Defensively, the Rangers have allowed just 2.25 goals per game as visitors—fewest among all teams—and have surrendered an average of only 2.68 goals per game overall, placing them seventh league-wide. In second periods specifically, they have conceded just 28 goals, tying them for third fewest allowed during that frame.

On offense, New York has scored a total of 61 goals on the road this season (tied for seventh most) and holds a plus-16 goal differential away from home—the fourth highest mark across the NHL.

Rangers goaltenders collectively own a .905 save percentage (sixth best) and a team goals against average of 2.65 (seventh lowest). At even strength (5-on-5), they have given up only 59 goals, sixth fewest in the league.

The club has led games as visitors for over seven and a half hours this season—the third most time spent leading by any team when playing away from home. When scoring first, New York has posted a record of 14-2-0; those fourteen wins are tied for seventh most when netting the opening goal.

In overtime or shootout situations, they have recorded seven combined wins—tied for fourth highest total this season.

Physical play continues to be part of their identity: New York leads all teams with 991 hits and ranks seventh with 563 blocked shots so far this year; they’ve registered more than thirty hits in eleven separate games—most among any franchise this campaign.

Several players and staff members share ties between these two teams:
– Taylor Raddysh played last season with Washington.
– Conor Sheary spent three seasons with the Capitals.
– Assistant coach Joe Sacco was previously a Capitals player.
Meanwhile, Sonny Milano (Capitals forward) hails from Massapequa, NY; Dylan McIlrath (Capitals defenseman) appeared in parts of four seasons as a Ranger earlier in his career.

On the road this year, New York sports a record of 13-6-1 with a goal differential advantage of +16 (61 scored to opponents’ 45). Through their first eleven away games this season they accumulated nineteen points—a new franchise record. Since the start of the 2021–22 campaign, no team has earned more road points than New York’s total of 233 or matched their tally of one hundred seven road victories over that period.

Artemi Panarin leads New York offensively: he tops the roster in both goals (13) and points (36), is tied for first place on assists (23), and has produced five multi-point outings plus sixteen points over his past thirteen appearances. He recently reached his nine-hundredth career point on December fourth against Ottawa—becoming only the sixth undrafted player since expansion to do so within eight hundred games or fewer—and sits ninth all-time among Rangers scorers by franchise history metrics with five hundred eighty-six points as a Blueshirt.

Mika Zibanejad paces New York’s power play effort: he leads with seven power play tallies while ranking second overall on both goals scored (12) and total points accrued (27). His next man advantage marker would tie him atop New York’s all-time list at one hundred sixteen power play goals; he currently stands fifth among Swedish-born skaters historically at one hundred twenty-seven such scores across his NHL tenure.

Vincent Trocheck has been productive since returning from injury November tenth—notching sixteen points over twenty-two games played—including three multipoint performances along with strong faceoff statistics that put him fifth best league-wide since last season began among high-volume draw-takers.

Goaltender Igor Shesterkin remains key defensively; he has helped secure standings points for New York nine times out twelve recent starts while limiting opponents to two or fewer markers fifteen times already—a figure tied for second highest amongst starting goaltenders this year.

Will Cuylle leads all Rangers skaters in hits delivered thus far at one hundred twenty-seven—a sum ranking him third across all NHL players—and holds several internal records regarding physical play metrics dating back to when such statistics were first officially tracked by the NHL during its modern era beginning in two thousand five oh six.

New York returns home following Tuesday’s contest to host Utah Mammoth on Monday January fifth at Madison Square Garden.
