The New York Rangers reported on March 28 that several players reached significant career milestones during their game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Drew Fortescue made his National Hockey League debut, Adam Sykora scored his first NHL goal, and Dylan Garand earned his first NHL win. The team said it was the first time since November 10, 1932, that three different Rangers achieved such milestones in a single game.
These achievements highlight a notable moment for the Rangers’ roster development this season. Having multiple young players reach key career moments in one night reflects both depth and opportunity within the team.
In addition to individual accomplishments, the Rangers noted continued success on special teams. The team has scored at least one power play goal in back-to-back games and has tallied fourteen power play goals over their last fifteen games—leading all teams in that span.
Fortescue and Sykora each recorded their first NHL points—Fortescue with an assist and Sykora with a goal—while Jaroslav Chmelar registered his first career NHL assist. According to the team, Sykora is now the sixth Ranger this season to score his first career goal.
New York also reported strong offensive output by registering six goals for the tenth time this season, tying them for third-most such games among all National Hockey League teams. Alexis Lafreniere scored his eighth power play goal of the year and ranks second on the team with twenty-two goals overall; since March 2 he has nine goals, tied for most in the league during that period.
Adam Fox collected an assist to bring him to thirty-five assists and thirty-nine points this season—the most among Rangers defensemen—and Jonny Brodzinski notched his third career multi-goal game.
Looking ahead, New York’s next home game will be against the Florida Panthers on Sunday, March 29 at Madison Square Garden.
