The New York University women’s tennis team defeated The College of New Jersey 7–0 on April 12 in Ewing, New Jersey.
The result highlights NYU’s strong performance as the team won every singles and doubles match. This victory demonstrates the team’s consistency and focus during away games.
In doubles play, NYU swept all three matches to secure the opening point. Visnja Gusavac and Sophia Yang won at No. 1 doubles with a score of 6–3. Emma Kast and Victoria Wang took the No. 2 spot with a 6–1 win, while Norah Staunton and Sophia Wright claimed a 6–3 victory at No. 3.
NYU continued its dominance by winning all six singles matches. Gusavac secured a straight-sets win at No. 1 (6–3, 6–2), followed by Wang’s win at No. 2 (6–3, 6–3). Yang earned a convincing victory at No. 3 (6–1, 6–2). Vera Bondarenko posted a score of (6–2, 6–1) at No.4; Siona Vallabhaneni recorded a (6–1, 6–1) result at No.5; and Noelle Faber completed the sweep with her win at No.6 (6–0,7-5).
“The women played competitively from the beginning, keeping their focus and intensity throughout the match,” said Assistant Coach Ron Moreno.”This allowed them stay in lead the whole way through.”
NYU is scheduled to host Brandeis University on Saturday, April 18 for Senior Day in the Bronx.
