The New York University women’s volleyball team hosted two matches and celebrated Senior Day at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan on Saturday, November 11.

Five seniors—Kaitlyn Sato, Jessica Spierenburg, Sarah Lattan, Eveliena Pasmooij, and Ava Launsbach—were honored before the second match against John Jay College.

NYU secured victories over Randolph Macon (25-20, 25-13, 22-25, 25-14) and John Jay (25-17, 25-20, 25-11). In the first match against Randolph Macon, NYU overcame an early deficit in the opening set and eventually won with a strong finish. Chloe Lemons scored the final point of the first set with a kill. The Violets maintained momentum in the fourth set with a decisive lead and finished with three consecutive service aces from Grace Nelson.

Jessica Spierenburg led NYU in kills (12) and service aces (5), while Alden Roberts also contributed five service aces along with nine digs and 12 assists. Kaitlyn Sato recorded 11 digs, and Ava Launsbach had a team-high 25 assists.

In their second match against John Jay College, NYU took control after breaking an early tie in the first set. The team maintained offensive strength throughout the match with notable hitting percentages (.500 in the second set and .560 in the third). Chloe Lemons led offensively with 11 kills; Grace Nelson and Sarah Lattan each added ten kills—Lattan’s total marking her career high. Both Launsbach (22) and Roberts (15) achieved double-digit assists.

Head Coach Andrew Brown commented on his team’s performance: “We did a really great job today at taking care of business and playing with pride on our home court to send our seniors off on a really nice note,” said Brown. “This senior class has been such hard workers and all about each other from day one which creates a really special team culture.”

The win over John Jay marked the 100th career victory for NYU’s senior class of 2026.

“Playing for this team has been one of the most rewarding and meaningful experiences of my life,” said Spierenburg. “There’s something so special about doing hard things alongside the people you love and I know that the bonds I’ve built here will last a lifetime.”

NYU will next play Stockton University on Saturday, November 8 in Galloway, NJ.
