The New York University women’s swimming and diving team is leading after the second day of the 2026 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, which are taking place at the Myers-McLoraine Pool at the University of Chicago from February 11 to 14.

At the end of Thursday’s evening session, NYU had accumulated 708.5 points, securing first place by winning four out of five races. Emory University is currently in second place with 678.5 points.

Swimming Head Coach Trevor Miele commented on the team’s performance: “The team came out ready to race this morning and it really set us up for the finals tonight. That’s not an easy thing to do, so I’m really proud of them.”

NYU started Thursday evening with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay. The “A” team—Lian Engle Jeong, Maeve O’Donnell, Llew Ladomirak, and Kaley McIntyre—set new records for the UAA, NYU, and Myers-McLoraine Pool with a time of 1:30.66.

In the following event, Ladomirak won her first individual UAA Championship in the 500 freestyle final with a time of 4:54.08. Aanya Wala finished second in that race.

Ella Romberg placed third in the 200 individual medley (IM) with a time of 2:04.25, followed closely by teammate Babette Bradley in fourth.

McIntyre earned her first sprint title at this meet by winning the 50 freestyle championship in 22.29 seconds, setting new UAA and pool records. O’Donnell and Jeong Engle completed the top three spots.

Later in the session, McIntyre anchored NYU’s win in the 400 medley relay alongside O’Donnell, Sammy Wong, and Nicole Ranile. Their combined time was 3:41.87, with McIntyre’s anchor leg more than three seconds faster than any other swimmer in that segment.

Coach Miele praised McIntyre’s efforts: “Kaley’s anchor legs on both relays tonight were unbelievably impressive. She is truly a cheat code.”

Earlier Thursday afternoon, NYU competed in its first diving event—the one-meter springboard. Maya Williams (432.30), Meera Kasturi (429.80), and Isabella Reyes (423.15) led NYU by finishing ninth through eleventh overall after topping the consolation final but missing out on advancing to the championship round.

Diving Head Coach Todd Kolean said about their performance: “Not quite the results we wanted today, but we were pretty good overall. Missing just one dive is enough miss out on the final at this level of competition. We’re looking forward to the three-meter program.”

The championships continue Friday with events including the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and 200 medley relay.
