The New York University women’s soccer team ended its regular season with a 1-0 defeat against Brandeis University in a University Athletic Association matchup held on Saturday, November 8, at Lubetkin Field in Newark, New Jersey.

Brandeis’ Abby Kenkelen scored the only goal of the match at the 23:29 mark. The Violets, ranked #21 nationally, recorded 10 shots with six on target but were unable to score against Brandeis goalkeeper Penny Alston.

NYU’s defense limited Brandeis to four shots, two of which were on goal. Mia Capo started as goalkeeper for NYU before Maddy Tohanczyn took over for the second half.

Before the game, NYU recognized eight seniors—Elizabeth Argenziano, Hunter Hoelscher, Rena Kalargiros, Julia Lombardo, Avril Silva, Yukino Wakatsuki, Maddy Xiong, and Eileen Xu—in a Senior Day ceremony.

The Violets now await word on whether they will receive a bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The official announcement regarding tournament selections is scheduled for Monday.
