The New York University women’s basketball team, currently ranked number one, secured a decisive 86-48 victory over Hamilton College at the Montreal Shootout on Monday, December 29, in Montreal, Quebec.
After trailing for the first time this season late in the first quarter, NYU regained control following two consecutive three-pointers by Olivia Lagao. The Violets maintained their lead for the rest of the game.
By halftime, NYU led 38-26 after closing out the second quarter with an 11-2 run. In the third quarter, NYU extended its advantage by scoring 31 points and limiting Hamilton to just 12 points.
Aila Kaibara led all scorers with 18 points on efficient shooting from both inside and beyond the arc. Lagao contributed four three-pointers as part of her 14-point performance.
With this win, NYU recorded its 71st consecutive victory. The team will conclude its participation in the Montreal Shootout with a game against SUNY Oneonta scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m.
