The New York University women’s basketball team maintained its undefeated record with a 90-48 win over Brooklyn College on December 13 at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan. With this victory, NYU’s season record stands at 8-0, while Brooklyn College drops to 7-3.
NYU has not trailed in any game so far this season, and that trend continued against Brooklyn. The first quarter remained close until NYU pulled ahead with a 10-point run, ending the quarter with a 19-8 lead.
“It’s been a long layoff without a game, so I thought it was a little bit of a slow start,” said Head Coach Meg Barber. “Once we got our chemistry going and started putting a little more effort into the defensive side of the ball, our offense was very productive.”
In the second quarter, NYU increased its advantage by scoring 32 points. Brooke Bachelor and Caroline Peper combined for 20 points during this period, leading to a halftime score of 51-20 in favor of NYU.
NYU’s defense limited Brooklyn to nine points in the third quarter. By the end of the third frame, NYU led by more than forty points.
Throughout the game, NYU forced 39 turnovers from Brooklyn College. Bachelor recorded nine steals—a personal best for her this season.
Caroline Peper led all players with 25 points and added ten rebounds and seven assists. She entered Saturday’s contest as NCAA Division III’s leader in three-pointers per game with an average of 5.50. Bachelor contributed sixteen points, while Sofia Corral came off the bench to add ten more. Yasmene Clark collected eight rebounds.
With this result, NYU extends its winning streak to seventy games—the second longest streak in NCAA Division III women’s basketball history.
NYU will have an extended break before participating in the Montreal Winter Tournament in Québec starting December 29 against Hamilton College at 2:00 p.m., followed by SUNY Oneonta on December 30 at the same time.
