New York University concluded its four-game baseball series against Case Western Reserve University on April 19, splitting the matchup two games each and honoring eight graduating players during Senior Day at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park.

The final game ended with a 12-9 win for Case Western Reserve, evening the overall series. NYU took victories in the first two games of the set, including a walk-off home run in game one, while Case Western secured wins in the last two contests. The third game was decided by a walk-off hit in extra innings.

Case Western opened the finale with five runs in the first inning. NYU responded as CJ Franchini hit an RBI double and later scored on Matt Dahl’s single to bring the score to 5-2. In the sixth inning, Dominic Holton and Bruno Damiani each contributed RBIs to reduce NYU’s deficit to six runs.

Dahl added another RBI in the eighth inning as NYU narrowed Case Western’s lead to 11-5. With bases loaded and two outs later that inning, NYU managed to drive in two more runs. Both teams scored additional runs in the ninth, concluding with a split of their season series.

The team recognized eight graduating student-athletes: Tucker McDonough, Bruno Damiani, Harrison Blueweiss, Caden Rothbaum, Kosta Mocklis, Ansel Balmer, Max Oliveira, and Aidan Pawlak. Franchini extended his hitting streak to 14 games and has recorded at least one RBI in twelve of those contests. This marks NYU’s first University Athletic Association (UAA) series split this season.

Looking ahead, NYU will travel for a four-game road series against the University of Chicago beginning Friday, April 24.
