New York University (NYU) has announced a new partnership with the Stamps Scholars Program to provide undergraduate scholarships focused on leadership development and experiential learning. The program will be managed by NYU’s Changemaker Center.
Bethany Godsoe, NYU’s vice president for student and organizational development, stated, “The Stamps Scholars Program has a remarkable record of teaming up with colleges and universities to facilitate extraordinary experiential learning opportunities and prepare students for leadership. Our undergraduates will benefit immensely from this opportunity.”
Chris Diggs, senior director of the Changemaker Center, added, “NYU is an ideal location for Stamps Scholars. We have a long history of emphasizing wide-ranging experiential learning that prepares our students as leaders and scholars who are equipped to address society’s most complex challenges.”
Students selected as NYU Stamps Scholars will be chosen during their sophomore year based on leadership qualities, intellectual curiosity, and community service. They will receive career coaching, research guidance, and participate in various experiential learning activities over three years. These activities include joining a leadership program to develop changemaking skills, individualized career coaching through NYU’s Social Impact Career Hub, advising through the Office of Global Awards, developing project proposals centered on research or experiential learning during their sophomore or junior year, and presenting their work to peers and faculty.
Scholars may pursue opportunities not only in New York City but also at NYU’s campuses in Abu Dhabi and Shanghai as well as 13 other global academic sites. The program combines research projects with internships, service initiatives, entrepreneurial activities, professional development events such as conferences, and cultural engagements.
Through the Changemaker Center, participants will join a broader community of student leaders including those involved in the AnBryce Scholars and Civic Fellows programs.
Applications for the scholarship open December 1. More information can be found on the Changemaker Center’s website.
NYU was founded in 1831 and is recognized globally for its research output across multiple disciplines. It operates degree-granting campuses in New York City, Abu Dhabi, Shanghai, and maintains academic sites worldwide including London; Paris; Florence; Tel Aviv; Buenos Aires; Accra; Washington DC; Los Angeles; and Tulsa.
The Stamps Scholars Program was established in 2006 by E. Roe Stamps and his late wife Penny to support exceptional educational experiences for outstanding students. The initiative now spans 37 U.S. colleges with an international network exceeding 1,240 current scholars and nearly 2,770 alumni.
