The New York University men’s tennis team defeated Salisbury University 7-0 on April 12 during Senior Day in the Bronx. The match marked the Violets’ eighth consecutive win and concluded their home season undefeated.

Senior players Cooper Kline, Niklas von Hellens, and Shido Ito were recognized for their contributions as they led the team to a decisive victory. The day held special significance as it celebrated the leadership and legacy of these seniors.

In doubles play, NYU secured two out of three matches to earn the doubles point. Bryan Hui and von Hellens won at No. 1 doubles with a score of 6–2, while Jeh-Lei Fan and Ito claimed a 6–1 victory at No. 2 doubles. The momentum from these wins carried into singles competition, where NYU swept all six matches: von Hellens (No. 1) won 6–1, 6–3; Hui (No. 2) took his match 6–3, 7–6; Ito (No.3) prevailed with a score of 6–1, 6–3; Fan rallied for a three-set win at No.4 (6–1, 2–6, 6–2); Kline posted a dominant 6-1, 6-1 result at No.5; and Seiya Kudo finished with an identical score at No.6.

“A good day at the office for the guys,” said Head Coach Horace Choy. “The team was fired up for Senior Day and it showed in the result. Jeh-lei and Shido got off to a hot start and won their doubles easily. Bryan and Nik were not far behind, staking us to a 1-0 lead. We carried the momentum into the singles and swept them with some solid play. Happy to extend our winning streak and end the season undefeated at home.”

Following this performance on Senior Day, NYU will travel to face St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill on Tuesday.
