The New York University men’s golf team finished in fifth place at the Farmingdale State College Spring Invitational, according to an April 19 announcement.

The result marks a step forward for the Violets as they prepare for the upcoming Liberty League Championship. The two-day tournament took place on April 18 and 19 at Bethpage State Park, where NYU improved its standing from sixth after Saturday’s round to fifth by Sunday, shooting +13 on the final day.

George Zhou led NYU over the weekend with a score of three-over par, tying for 20th place individually. Oscar Uribe followed closely at four-over par and tied for 24th. Teammates Qi (Steven) Liu, Jomyuth Luangtana-anan, and Tanmay Chandra each finished five-over par and tied for 30th out of a field of 96 players.

Head Coach Brad Johnson said, “We’re peaking at the right time heading into the Liberty League Championship next week. The team is coming together and we will be ready to give it our best.”

NYU will now turn its attention to preparing for the Liberty League Championship next weekend in Verona.
