Renowned vascular surgeon Gregory A. Magee, MD, has been appointed as the new chief of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at NYU Langone Health. Dr. Magee is recognized for his extensive experience in developing noninvasive techniques and protocols to manage life-threatening diseases.
Dr. Robert Montgomery, chair of NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery, expressed enthusiasm about Dr. Magee’s appointment: “Dr. Magee is a dynamic leader whose clinical expertise and dedication to innovation align seamlessly with our mission of delivering outstanding, patient-centered care.”
In his new role, Dr. Magee aims to build a collaborative vascular program involving various specialists such as surgeons and cardiologists. “I’m excited to create a unified model where surgeons, cardiologists, interventional radiologists, and others work together—not in competition—to provide the most comprehensive care possible,” he stated.
Dr. Magee received his medical degree from Yale University and completed his general surgery residency at Stanford University Medical Center. He also pursued advanced training through fellowships at USC and the University of Colorado.
Before joining NYU Langone Health, Dr. Magee served as director of research at USC’s Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy. He has published over 140 peer-reviewed manuscripts on topics related to aortic surgery and vascular trauma.
Internationally, Dr. Magee has contributed to malaria vaccine trials in Mali and developed treatment programs for children with Chagas disease in Bolivia.
NYU Langone Health continues its commitment to high-quality patient outcomes across its numerous facilities in New York and Florida.
