Three student athletes from New York University have received weekly honors for their recent performances.
Emerson Evans and BoJameson Ebeling, both members of the men’s volleyball team, were recognized by the United Volleyball Conference (UVC). Evans was named Co-UVC Player of the Week, while Ebeling earned Rookie of the Week. Kaley McIntyre from women’s swimming and diving was selected as a University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week.
The NYU men’s volleyball team, currently ranked eighth nationally, won two out of three matches last week. Evans recorded 59 kills with a .283 hitting percentage. He had 18 kills against Stevens Institute of Technology and posted 20 or more kills in matches against Ramapo and St. John Fisher. In the UVC opener versus St. John Fisher, he achieved his best performance with 21 kills on .390 hitting.
Ebeling contributed significantly to NYU’s victory over Ramapo by finishing with 14 kills on a .737 hitting percentage. He also added two serving aces and four blocks.
McIntyre was honored as UAA Women’s Swimmer of the Year after winning every final she competed in during the championship meet: 800 free relay, 200 free relay, 50 free, 400 medley relay, 200 free, 100 free, and 400 free relay. She set new UAA records in several events—50 free, 100 free, 200 free relay, and 800 free relay—and broke a Division III record in the 200 freestyle that had stood for fifteen years. Her performance helped NYU secure its first-ever UAA Championship in women’s swimming.
