Rep. Nydia Velázquez, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 7th district, has been active on social media, sharing her views on privacy, community celebrations, and constitutional rights.

On December 3, 2024, Velázquez expressed support for a proposal by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) aimed at regulating data brokers. She stated: “Our sensitive personal data shouldn’t be up for grabs for scammers, spies, or abusers. The @CFPB’s proposal to hold these data brokers accountable is a big step forward for privacy, safety, and national security.”

The following day, December 4, 2024, she shared her experience at a local holiday event in Vernon Mall. She remarked: “I was excited to join @LICPartnership, @TheChocoFactry, and other neighbors on Monday night to celebrate the holiday lights at Vernon Mall! It was great to see that no matter your cultural or religious background, we can all come together to celebrate the holidays!”

On December 5, 2024, Velázquez addressed issues surrounding constitutional rights and immigration status. She commented: “One of the great things about our constitution is that ALL people are entitled to certain rights and constitutional protections. Due process is not dependent on immigration status. This type of misinformed rhetoric is embarrassing and does nothing to help New Yorkers.”
