She commented: “Another day, another GOP giveaway to big banks.” Velázquez argued that overturning the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s overdraft fee cap would increase costs for working families while benefiting Wall Street.
On February 19, 2025, Velázquez addressed an incident involving questioning a Latino lawmaker’s citizenship. She described it as xenophobic and demanded an apology from Rep. Lawler: “Unbelievable. Questioning a Latino lawmaker’s citizenship?”
