The New York Rangers are set to play against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday evening, marking their second meeting of the season. The game will be broadcast on MSG and ESPN 880 AM radio.

The Rangers have recently earned points in eight of their last twelve games, with a record of 6-4-2 during that span. They currently lead the National Hockey League (NHL) in road wins with 12 and are tied for third in road points at 25. Their nine regulation victories away from home are tied for the second most among NHL teams.

In terms of faceoff performance, the Rangers’ win percentage on the road is 56.3%, ranking third in the league, while their overall faceoff win percentage stands at 54.4%, also third-best. The team’s plus-16 goal differential as visitors ties them for third best in the NHL, and they have scored 58 goals on the road—eighth highest in the league.

Defensively, New York has allowed an average of 2.33 goals per game on the road this season, which is tied for second fewest in the league. Overall, they have conceded an average of 2.71 goals per game, placing them seventh among all teams. The team has been particularly effective during second periods, allowing just 23 goals—tied for fewest allowed by any NHL club.

At even strength (5-on-5), New York has given up only 56 goals so far this season, which is tied for seventh fewest in the NHL. As a visiting team, they have led games for a total duration of over seven hours and thirty-six minutes (456:42), ranking third highest across all teams.

Rangers goaltenders collectively have posted a .903 save percentage—seventh highest—and a combined goals against average (GAA) of 2.68—the tenth lowest mark among NHL clubs.

When scoring first this season, New York has recorded thirteen wins (13-2-0), tying them for seventh most victories when netting the opening goal.

Offensively from defensemen, Rangers blueliners have contributed seventeen goals to date—tied for tenth most among all teams.

In terms of physicality and defensive plays, New York leads all NHL teams with 927 hits and ranks eighth with 517 blocked shots; they have registered more than thirty hits in twelve different games this season—the most by any team so far.

There are several connections between both franchises ahead of Thursday’s matchup: Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich previously played five seasons with New York between 2016 and 2021, recording nearly two hundred points across more than three hundred games; Tim Taylor, now assistant general manager with St. Louis, spent two seasons as a player with New York around twenty years ago.

This season’s success away from home builds upon recent history: since the start of the 2021–22 campaign, no other NHL team has accumulated more road points than New York (231), nor matched their total number of away wins (106).

Among individual performances:
– Artemi Panarin leads his club in multiple offensive categories including points (34), shots (105), and is tied atop both goals scored (11) and assists made (23). He recently reached his career milestone by becoming one of only six undrafted players since 1963–64 to tally nine hundred career points within eight hundred games or fewer.
– Mika Zibanejad tops power play production for New York this year with six power play goals; he sits two power play tallies shy of matching a franchise record.
– Vincent Trocheck has contributed consistently since returning from injury last month; his faceoff success rate places him fifth league-wide among regular participants since last season.
– J.T. Miller leads his teammates in faceoff wins this year while also providing strong contributions offensively.
– Will Cuylle leads not only his team but ranks third across all players league-wide with one hundred twenty-one hits so far this campaign.
– Goaltender Igor Shesterkin remains steady between pipes: over his last ten appearances he helped secure seven results yielding at least one point each time; he holds top-five rankings both overall and specifically on-the-road among starting goaltenders regarding GAA metrics since early November.

The next home game for New York will take place against Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.
