New York City FC has announced changes to its upcoming schedule due to field maintenance at Citi Field. The club’s match against Columbus Crew, originally set for Saturday, August 9, will now take place on Wednesday, September 17 at Yankee Stadium. Additionally, the game against Charlotte FC has been moved from Friday, September 19 to Saturday, September 20 and will also be held at Yankee Stadium.

Kickoff times for both rescheduled matches will be announced later.

The changes come after a period of frequent events and challenging weather in New York City led to significant wear on the grass at Citi Field. The stadium’s surface has recently been resodded to maintain safety and quality for athletes. As a result, only baseball games are allowed at Citi Field for at least three weeks while the new turf settles.

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, our match at Citi Field on August 9 needs to be rescheduled,” said Brad Sims, New York City FC CEO. “We are grateful to our partners at the New York Yankees for their help and for making Yankee Stadium available for these matches. However, we understand and apologize for the inconvenience this causes our loyal fans and would like to thank them for their continued support and understanding as we navigate this period before Etihad Park opens in 2027.”

The September 17 match against Columbus Crew will serve as the club’s annual Noche Latina event presented by Goya. The September 20 fixture with Charlotte FC is now designated as Kids Day presented by MetroPlusHealth.

Fans who purchased tickets for the original August 9 match versus Columbus Crew will receive information about their options within 24 hours. Tickets bought for the initial September 19 game against Charlotte FC will be valid for entry on September 20; those ticketholders can expect further communication soon.

For additional questions or concerns regarding tickets, fans are encouraged to contact their ticket representative or NYCFC Fan Services by phone or email.
