New York City FC will face the Colorado Rapids at Yankee Stadium on March 14 in their second home game of the 2026 season.
The match is significant as both teams have started the season strongly, with New York City FC currently unbeaten after three games. The club has won two matches and drawn one, marking its second-best start to a campaign and placing it at the top of the Eastern Conference.
After earning four points on the road against LA Galaxy and Philadelphia Union, New York City FC returned home for a decisive 5-0 victory over Orlando City SC. The team now looks to build momentum during a stretch of three consecutive home games. Head Coach Pascal Jansen said there is still more potential to be realized from his squad, noting growth in recent performances: “Reflecting on the first three matches, the Head Coach acknowledged the shoots of growth that have already sprouted: from the late drama against LA, to last weekend’s outstanding rout of Orlando.”
Colorado Rapids also enter Saturday’s match with confidence after making changes in the off-season. Matt Wells was appointed head coach in December following a disappointing 2025 regular season. Under Wells’ leadership, Colorado has earned six points from its first three games this year. The team rebounded from an opening loss to Seattle Sounders by defeating Portland Timbers and then LA Galaxy, with Rafael Navarro scoring twice in their most recent win.
New York City’s attack has been effective so far this season, with six different players scoring and Keaton Parks netting two goals in his return against Orlando. The club also recorded its first clean sheet of 2026 during that match.
Both teams aim to continue their positive starts as they meet at Yankee Stadium. Observers will watch closely to see if New York City FC can maintain its position atop the conference or if Colorado can extend its own run under new management.
