New York City FC II defeated Orlando City B 4-1 in an away match on Sunday night. The game began with Evan Lim scoring in the 14th minute, assisted by Sebastiano Musu. Six minutes later, New York City doubled their lead when Orlando defender Jackson Platts scored an own goal following a cross from Eligio Guarino.
Orlando City B nearly responded quickly through Thalles, but his shot was deflected for a corner. Favian Loyola forced a save from Mac Learned before halftime, and Shak Mohammed had another chance for Orlando just before the break.
After halftime, Orlando started strongly and created several opportunities. Loyola again tested Learned with a long-range effort. Musu responded for New York City FC II with a shot inside the area that was saved.
Head Coach Matt Pilkington made substitutions in the second half, bringing on Uriel Zeitz and Julien Lacher. In the 86th minute, Zeitz scored after a clearance from the goalkeeper rebounded off him into the net.
Orlando’s Shak Mohammed reduced the deficit shortly after by scoring on a rebound following his initial attempt being parried. However, New York City FC II secured their win in stoppage time when Julien Lacher completed a solo run down the left side and finished with a low shot to make it 4-1.
The result follows New York City’s previous defeat to Philadelphia Union II. Several players returned to the starting lineup for this match, including Sebastiano Musu, Máximo Carrizo, and Drew Baiera.
New York City FC II will next face Chicago Fire FC II on Friday, August 7 at 7:30PM ET.
