Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) has announced several recent awards and appointments. The hospital was recognized as the best cancer center in the Northeast, ranked second nationally for cancer care, and named the top hospital in the nation for urology care by U.S. News & World Report in its annual Best Hospitals listing. MSK has consistently remained among the top two cancer hospitals in the United States and is the highest-ranked cancer center in the Northeast since these rankings began over 35 years ago.
Jessica Posada, MD, a postdoctoral associate and physician-scientist, was named the inaugural recipient of the Debbie’s Dream Early Career Investigator in Gastroesophageal Cancer Translational Research Award. This award is given through a national selection process led by Yelena Janjigian, MD. It was established by Debbie’s Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer and Memorial Sloan Kettering Gastroesophageal Cancer Therapeutics Accelerator to support emerging researchers in this field. Dr. Posada will join the Janjigian Lab to work with multidisciplinary teams on biomarker-driven clinical research and new therapeutic strategies for gastroesophageal cancer patients.
Hedvig Hricak, MD, PhD, a radiologist at MSK, received the 2025 Global Health Catalyst Distinguished Global Oncology Leader Award for her long-term contributions to advancing global cancer imaging and care.
Daniel Gomez, MD, MBA, a radiation oncologist at MSK, was selected as a 2025 American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Fellow. This recognition honors members’ achievements within ASTRO as well as their contributions to research, education, patient care, and advancement of their specialty.
Almudena Chaves Pérez, PhD, postdoctoral researcher at MSK, received the 2025 Dr. Eddie Méndez Scholar Award from Fred Hutch Cancer Center for her achievements as an early-career scientist studying cancer and related sciences.
Brandon Joachim, BSN, RN, OCN—a clinical nurse II—received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses from MSK’s Department of Nursing together with The DAISY Foundation. The award recognizes nurses who demonstrate kindness and sensitivity that make a significant impact on patient experiences.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is located in New York City and was founded in 1884. Selwyn M. Vickers currently serves as president of MSK. In addition to providing adult oncology services—including pediatric wards—the institution functions as a training hospital; its 2022 annual report recorded over 26,500 surgeries performed and more than 24,000 patients admitted during that year.
