Michael Novakhov, a New York State Assembly member representing a Brooklyn district, shared reflections on international conflict, state tax policy debates, and community events in a series of posts on February 25, 2026.

In his first post of the day, Novakhov marked the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He wrote: “Today we remember the day Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. A war of aggression that has brought unimaginable suffering, but has also revealed extraordinary courage.

The Ukrainian people have stood strong in the face of tyranny. Their fight is a fight for https://t.co/rxmborJPuj” (February 25, 2026).

Later that evening, Novakhov commented on tax policy discussions at the State Capitol. He stated: “The DSA were in the State Capital today demanding we ‘tax the rich.’

Let me be clear: when Mamdani and the Democrats tax the rich, the middle class is next. And when you punish success long enough, people leave.

No taxpayers = no revenue = no money to fund their communist https://t.co/yAJXqzxhqM” (February 25, 2026).

Novakhov concluded his public statements by highlighting his participation in an interfaith event: “It was a privilege to attend the 9th Annual Ramadan Iftar Dinner in Albany hosted by the Peace Islands Institute NY and the Turkish Cultural Center.

Ramadan is a time of reflection, faith, and community. It was especially meaningful to see many families and community leaders https://t.co/Rw9hcXx6GW” (February 25, 2026).

Novakhov immigrated from the former USSR with his family before establishing himself in New York City’s political landscape as a Republican representative for Brooklyn in the State Assembly (official website). Elected to office in 2022 after two decades working in radio—including co-founding Freedom FM—he focuses on issues such as crime reduction targeting specific communities and improving affordability for health care and housing. His background as an immigrant and broadcaster informs his approach to addressing quality-of-life concerns for constituents.
