Michael Novakhov, a member of the New York State Assembly representing a Brooklyn district, has recently addressed issues of antisemitism and international cooperation in a series of public statements on social media.

On February 12, 2026, Novakhov posted about his participation in a public hearing where he questioned Zohran Mamdani regarding the increase in antisemitic incidents. He stated, “At today’s public hearing, I pressed Mamdani on the rise in antisemitism and urged him to engage directly with Jewish leaders. Dialogue matters. Listening matters. Action matters. I’ll continue standing up for our Jewish community and demanding real leadership from City Hall.” This post underscored his call for city officials to address concerns raised by Jewish residents.

Later that same day, Novakhov reiterated his position with another statement: “Yesterday, I took on Zohran Mamdani over rising antisemitism. He can play to the cameras. I’ll fight for our community. Less talk. More action.” The message emphasized his focus on tangible measures rather than public appearances.

On February 14, 2026, Novakhov highlighted his engagement with international leaders by meeting with representatives from Uzbekistan’s parliament as part of the Open World Leadership Center program. He wrote, “Honored to meet with a delegation from the Parliament of Uzbekistan through the Open World Leadership Center program. We discussed strengthening ties, advancing cooperation, and sharing governance insights. Grateful for a chance to build international connections that benefit NY.”

Novakhov is an immigrant from the former USSR who moved to the United States with his family and later won election to the State Assembly in 2022 (official website). He is affiliated with the Republican Party and has focused on addressing crime affecting specific communities, improving affordability in health care and housing, and maintaining quality of life for Brooklyn residents (official website). Prior to his political career, Novakhov spent two decades in radio broadcasting and co-founded Freedom FM in 2019 (official website).
