Grace Meng, serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 6th district, has recently expressed her concerns on various pivotal issues through her Twitter account. Meng, who replaced Gary Ackerman in 2013, commented on a wide range of topics, including administration policies, economic tariffs, and social security, showcasing her advocacy for American citizens and her constituents.

On April 15, 2025, Meng criticized the current administration, stating that “The Administration is blatantly defying the Supreme Court and the Rule of Law by refusing to bring home Kilmar Abrego García AND suggesting that American citizens should be deported to prisons in El Salvador.” She concluded the message by noting, “This is not what Democracy looks like.”

Later that day, Meng highlighted the economic concerns regarding tariffs on MSNBC, stating that “#ICYMI I joined the @katiephangshow on MSNBC this weekend to talk about the major impact tariffs will have on New Yorkers & small businesses across the country” The discussion shed light on the potential repercussions for New York residents and small businesses impacted by these tariffs.

Additionally, Meng visited the Elmcor Senior Center in Lefrak City, where she renewed her commitment to supporting senior citizens. On April 15, 2025, she addressed the nature of Social Security, asserting that “Social Security isn’t an entitlement. It’s essentially a savings account that hardworking Americans pay into throughout their lifetime.” During her visit, Meng reassured local seniors of her dedication to safeguarding their Social Security benefits.

Grace Meng, who was born in New York City in 1975 and currently resides in Queens, has been a Congress member since 2013. She has a BA from the University of Michigan and a JD from Yeshiva University, and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012.
