Columbia University has announced the addition of Maggie Brown to its women’s lacrosse coaching staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2026 season. Head coach Anne Murray welcomed Brown, highlighting her experience and connection to current athletes.

“I am very excited to be announcing Maggie Brown as an addition to our coaching staff,” Murray said. “Her unique playing experience at USC and coaching experience are going to enhance how we do things here at Columbia. She is skilled, passionate, and tough. She is so close to the game our athletes are playing and has a unique ability of relating to them and this spark is going to be contagious through our team.”

Brown joins Columbia after serving as an assistant coach at Princeton during the 2024 season. While there, she contributed to the Tigers achieving a 16-4 record and advancing in the NCAA Tournament before falling to top-seeded North Carolina.

“I’m incredibly excited to join the women’s lacrosse coaching staff at Columbia University!” Brown said. “It’s an honor to be a part of such a prestigious institution and to work alongside dedicated student- athletes and coaches. I’m looking forward to contributing to the program’s growth, supporting our student-athletes on and off the field, and building something special here in the Ivy League. Go Lions!”

Brown played four years as an attacker at Southern California (USC), appearing in 57 games with 118 points from 95 goals and 23 assists. She was recognized twice as a second-team Pac-12 All-Conference selection in her final two seasons, also earning Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll honors in 2024. Her postseason efforts included Pac-12 All-Tournament Team recognition in both 2023 and 2024.

In addition to her collegiate achievements, Brown worked with First Class Lacrosse in 2023 and coached with Minnesota Elite Lacrosse between 2018 and 2022.

Originally from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Brown was named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American in high school while winning two state championships with Eden Prairie High School’s lacrosse team; she also played ice hockey during that time.

Brown earned her degree in communication from USC in 2024.
