Led by first-year student Kristina Xu, the Columbia women’s golf team secured third place at the Princeton Invitational this weekend. The team achieved a combined score of 14-over-par 866, setting new program records for both the lowest 54-hole total and the lowest 54-hole score in relation to par.
Xu finished as co-medalist with two Princeton competitors. She posted rounds of 69, 72, and 70 on Springdale Golf Club’s par-71 course. Her opening round of 69 was her best collegiate round so far, featuring three birdies in her first five holes and only one bogey. Xu completed the tournament at two under par, marking her second win in four starts.
First-year Camille Thai also had a strong showing, tying for tenth place at four over par with rounds of 74, 72, and an even-par 71. This result marked Thai’s first top-ten finish for Columbia.
Sophomores Christine Chang (+6) and Sarah Shao (+9) both placed in the top twenty. First-year Bridget Chantharath (+10) tied for twenty-fifth place, while sophomore Emily Luo (+18) completed Columbia’s six-player lineup.
Columbia has now finished among the top three teams in three out of four fall tournaments. Among Ivy League schools participating at Princeton this weekend, Columbia was second-best—finishing ahead of Harvard by fourteen shots, Penn by twenty shots, Dartmouth by twenty-two shots, and Yale by a significant margin.
Princeton won the event on its home course with a score of one under par.
The Princeton Invitational concludes Columbia’s fall season. The team will resume play February 21-22 when it hosts the Columbia Classic at Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida.
