St. John’s University women’s golfer Kelly Wu has been named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week, according to an announcement from the conference office on Thursday.
This marks the second time this season that Wu has received the award, having previously earned it on October 16. Wu, a senior from Auckland, New Zealand, placed 11th at the recent UNCW River Landing Classic in Wallace, North Carolina.
Wu finished with a total score of 226 over three rounds (74-74-78), recording two rounds of 2-over-par 74 on the first day and a 4-over-par 78 in her final round. Her performance led the St. John’s team at the tournament.
Over six events this season, Wu holds a team-leading scoring average of 75.2 across 17 rounds. She has achieved three top-20 finishes and secured medalist honors at the UAlbany Great Danes Invitational earlier in October.
The Red Storm women’s golf team is scheduled to compete again March 13-14 as it seeks to defend its title at the Northern Kentucky Spring Fling in Vero Beach, Florida.
