The Juilliard–Nord Anglia Performing Arts Collaboration has reached its 10th anniversary, marking a decade since the partnership between Nord Anglia Education and The Juilliard School began in 2015. The program was created to integrate world-class performing arts education into Nord Anglia’s schools worldwide, providing students with opportunities in dance, drama, and music.

The collaboration is built on the idea that the arts are an essential part of a well-rounded education. Through an inquiry-led curriculum based on Juilliard’s Core Works—selected pieces spanning various genres and historical periods—students engage with professional artistry and develop skills such as creativity, critical thinking, cultural understanding, and confidence. The initiative aims to help students become expressive learners with a strong sense of identity.

Central to the program is the Juilliard Creative Classroom, a digital platform offering resources like lesson plans and videos for different age groups. This is complemented by in-person visits from Juilliard Curriculum Specialists, regional training events, and participation in the Juilliard K–12 Accomplished Teacher Program. Teachers benefit from ongoing coaching and professional development both in New York and internationally.

Over ten years, more than 59,000 students have been taught by Juilliard Curriculum Specialists across Nord Anglia schools. The program has also provided hands-on professional learning for over 1,600 teachers through more than 1,700 virtual workshops and over 1,000 in-person visits from Juilliard artists and staff.

A recent survey found that 94% of participating teachers discovered new ways to engage learners through the program. More than 85% rated it highly effective for helping students express their viewpoints and develop creativity through improvisation and composition. Schools reported a 30% increase in student participation across music, dance, and drama subjects.

Teachers observed improvements not only in artistic skills but also in student confidence and willingness to take creative risks across all subjects. Roger Montoya, Juilliard Regional Lead and Music Teacher at Country Day School Costa Rica said: “The alignment and development of the performing arts curriculum from K to 12 is now helping other academic areas to progress.”

Cat Molloy, Director of Performing Arts at British International School Ho Chi Minh City added: “We are often told that we are lucky to have such talented students, but I believe it’s the dedication and consistency of our team, and the amazing curriculum that we have built as part of our collaboration with Juilliard, that allows them to flourish.”

Richard Mannoia, Senior Managing Director of K–12 Programs and Initiatives at The Juilliard School stated: “In the Juilliard-Nord Anglia program, we aim for every student to access creative experiences in dance, drama, and music; essential resources that unleash limitless potential. We believe that young people need and deserve to nurture their deepest capacities for connection, courage, and authentic expression through the performing arts.”

Dr. Elise Ecoff, Chief Education Officer at Nord Anglia Education commented: “As the Juilliard–Nord Anglia Performing Arts Program enters its second decade, our focus is on continuing to innovate. New research initiatives will capture its long-term impact, and our new leadership training and curriculum developments will keep the program responsive to the needs of our global student community.”

Nord Anglia Education operates more than 80 day and boarding schools across 37 countries serving over 95,000 students aged three to eighteen years old globally. The organization emphasizes personalized learning approaches tailored for each child’s needs.

The Juilliard School was founded in 1905 with a mission to provide high-level artistic education for musicians, dancers, actors—and other creators—from around the world under President Damian Woetzel’s leadership.
