In the latest edition of MLB.com’s Hitter Power Rankings, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton of the New York Yankees both appear in the top 10. The rankings, compiled by MLB.com’s data team, weigh recent performance, season-long statistics, and results over the past year.
Aaron Judge is ranked seventh. Over his last 33 games, Judge has posted a .377 on-base percentage and a .466 slugging percentage. This comes after he was hitting .358/.465/.739 earlier in the season. Judge is adapting to a new role as a full-time designated hitter following an injury to his right flexor. He has recently hit three home runs in six games, tying Yogi Berra for fifth place on the Yankees’ all-time home run list with 358.
Giancarlo Stanton joins the rankings at number eight. After missing much of the season due to injuries to both elbows and debuting on June 16, Stanton found his form from July 8 through August 26. During that period, he batted .358 with an .835 slugging percentage, hitting 16 home runs and driving in 39 runs over 35 games.
Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers remains at the top spot. Kyle Schwarber (Phillies) and Nick Kurtz (Athletics) round out the top three. Other notable names include Juan Soto (Mets), George Springer (Blue Jays), Ramón Laureano (Padres), Bo Bichette (Blue Jays), and Brice Turang (Brewers).
The rankings reflect player performances through Tuesday’s games and will be updated again before the end of the regular season.
