Speaker Carl Heastie and Assemblymember Jen Lunsford visited the Buffalo Bills at their training camp held at St. John Fisher University. The visit was part of Speaker Heastie’s annual statewide tour to discuss the impact of hosting such events on local communities.
“For over 20 years, the Buffalo Bills have come here to St. John Fisher University for training camp, and Bills Mafia has shown up to support them,” said Speaker Heastie. “It was great to be here today with Assemblymember Lunsford and to see the economic impact this has on the surrounding businesses and the pride this brings to the communities in Western New York.”
Assemblymember Lunsford expressed her pride in hosting the event in her district. “For so many families here in the Rochester area, this is their only opportunity to see our Buffalo Bills play in person and to engage up close with the players that inspire so much unity and pride here in New York,” she stated. She highlighted the significant economic benefits for local hotels, restaurants, and businesses.
The visit included St. John Fisher President Gerard Rooney as well as Assemblymembers Demond Meeks, Sarah Clark, and Harry Bronson. The tradition of holding training camps at St. John Fisher University dates back to 2000, attracting thousands of fans who contribute economically by visiting local establishments.
