Hakeem Jeffries, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 8th district since 2013, has recently used his social media platform to voice criticism of the Trump administration and address legislative concerns.

On August 1, 2025, Jeffries posted: “The Trump economy is weak. And so is the effort to blame the failure of your presidency on a career public servant.”

The following day, August 2, 2025, he commented on legislative developments with: “Why is the One Big Ugly Bill so unpopular? It turns out the American people don’t like it when you rip away healthcare from millions. And steal food from the mouths of hungry children.”

On August 3, 2025, Jeffries highlighted actions by Texas lawmakers in another post: “Texas Democrats are standing up for the people.”

Jeffries’ remarks come as part of ongoing debates over federal policy and party strategy. He succeeded Edolphus Towns in Congress in 2013 after serving in the New York State Assembly from 2007 to 2012. Born and residing in Brooklyn, New York City, Jeffries holds degrees from Binghamton University and New York University School of Law.
