Hakeem Jeffries, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 8th district since 2013, posted a series of statements on social media criticizing House Republicans and former President Donald Trump for their recent actions in Congress.
On July 15, 2025, Jeffries commented on the congressional vote regarding the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. He wrote, “More than 210 House Republicans voted today to block the release of the Epstein files. What are these people hiding?”
The following day, Jeffries continued his criticism by referencing both Donald Trump and Pam Bondi alongside House Republicans. On July 16, he stated, “Donald Trump, Pam Bondi and House Republicans are protecting the swamp they promised to drain. And mocking their most loyal supporters. What are they hiding from the American people?”
Later that same day, Jeffries addressed economic concerns in another post: “Inflation is up in America. Republicans are not fixing the problem. They are the problem.”
Jeffries has represented New York’s 8th District in Congress since replacing Edolphus Towns in 2013 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2007 to 2012. Born in Brooklyn in 1970, he continues to reside there and holds degrees from Binghamton University and New York University School of Law.
