Hakeem Jeffries, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 8th district since 2013, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing current political issues and criticizing House Republicans.

On July 23, 2025, Jeffries wrote: “Donald Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill will leave millions of Americans broke, hungry and sick. Shame on House Republicans for always bending the knee to the PuppetMaster-in-Chief’s extreme agenda.”

Two days later, on July 24, 2025, he questioned Republican leadership with another post: “Republicans promised to lower the high cost of living, end the war in Ukraine and release the Epstein files. Why has none of this happened? The extremists have been too busy protecting the lifestyles of the rich and shameless.”

On July 26, 2025, Jeffries addressed international concerns by posting: “Statement on the Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza. https://t.co/SFPn3f8H89”

Jeffries’ recent comments come amid ongoing debates in Congress over domestic policy proposals and foreign affairs. He has served as a representative for New York’s 8th District since replacing Edolphus Towns in 2013 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2007 to 2012. Born in Brooklyn in 1970, Jeffries continues to reside there and holds degrees from Binghamton University (BA) and New York University (JD).
