On August 31, 2025, Jeffries wrote: “Electricity prices are skyrocketing and MAGA extremists are taking away healthcare from millions. You deserve better.”
Continuing his engagement with constituents, Jeffries expressed gratitude toward labor unions the following day. On September 1, 2025, he posted: “Thankful for the hardworking men and women of organized labor. Your values are our values. We will always stand up for you.”
On September 2, 2025, Jeffries addressed actions by former President Donald Trump and House Republicans regarding federal healthcare programs. He stated: “Donald Trump and House Republicans gutted Medicaid and are destroying the Affordable Care Act. You deserve better.”
Jeffries has represented New York’s 8th District in Congress since succeeding Edolphus Towns in 2013 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2007 to 2012. Born in Brooklyn in 1970, he continues to reside there. His educational background includes a BA from Binghamton University and a JD from New York University.
