Hakeem Jeffries, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 8th district since 2013, recently used his social media platform to comment on current legislative and political issues.

On January 8, 2026, Jeffries posted a tweet that included only a link: https://t.co/FjgDKWMvjz.

The following day, on January 9, 2026, he addressed Senate Republicans in a direct appeal regarding health care policy: “Senate Republicans must vote now to save the Affordable Care Act tax credits. No more excuses.”

On January 10, 2026, Jeffries criticized certain members of the Republican Party for their focus on Greenland: “Republican extremists are obsessed with Greenland. What does any of this have to do with making your life better? Not a damn thing.”

Jeffries has represented New York’s 8th District in Congress since succeeding Edolphus Towns in 2013. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 2007 to 2012. Born in Brooklyn in 1970 and currently residing there, Jeffries holds a BA from Binghamton University and a JD from New York University.
