Grace Meng, a U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 6th district, has been vocal on several pressing issues through her social media presence. Her recent tweets reflect her stance on budget legislation and economic policies affecting her constituents and broader communities.

On June 5, 2025, Meng expressed agreement with Elon Musk regarding a controversial budget bill. She stated, “For once, I agree with Elon. Let’s stop this bad budget bill from becoming law.” This comment highlights her opposition to the proposed legislation.

Later that day, Meng criticized the GOP budget proposal for its impact on public welfare programs. She tweeted about the potential consequences of the bill, noting that “The GOP budget bill aims to cut Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) benefits by more than $1.3 billion to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.” She emphasized that this would negatively affect over five million children and new parents, including those in Queens.

On June 6, 2025, Meng addressed the issue of tariffs and their impact on small businesses and consumers. She highlighted the challenges faced by Asian American communities due to rising prices caused by tariffs. In her tweet, she mentioned questioning Secretary Lutnick about relief measures for imports such as rice and spices: “Tariffs hurt small businesses & consumers the most… I asked Sec. Lutnick just how long we’ll have to wait to get relief on imports of products…”

Grace Meng has served in Congress since 2013 after replacing Gary Ackerman. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born in New York City in 1975, Meng holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Yeshiva University.
