Grace Meng, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 6th district since 2013, shared several concerns on her social media regarding recent governmental changes. With an educational background that includes a BA from the University of Michigan and a JD from Yeshiva University, Meng has been active in highlighting potential impacts on various federal agencies.
On June 6, 2025, Grace Meng expressed concerns over business development changes under Secretary Lutnick’s leadership. She noted that “Secretary Lutnick told us on the record that the Administration is not eliminating the @USMBDA. However, under his leadership the agency has been reduced from 65 employees to less than 10.” Meng further commented on how these actions might speak louder than words.
In another post made on the same day, Meng addressed issues at the U.S. Census Bureau by pointing out “hiring freezes & staff reductions at the U.S. Census Bureau are raising concerns about whether the Bureau can continue producing reliable statistics for the American people.” She emphasized that these statistics are crucial for understanding population dynamics within the United States.
Additionally, Meng highlighted concerns about staffing at NOAA and NWS offices amidst severe weather events. On June 6, she remarked that “Communities across the country are already reeling from tornados and torrential storms… Sec. Lutnick told us that @NWS offices are fully staffed.” Despite assurances of full staffing levels, she suggested that what communities experience tells a different story.
Grace Meng continues to advocate for her constituents in Queens while addressing national issues impacting government efficiency and public safety.
