Grace Meng, U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 6th district since 2013, posted a series of updates on July 31, 2025, highlighting her appreciation for interns and addressing severe weather conditions in New York City.
In a message recognizing the contributions of her team’s interns, Meng wrote: “Happy National Intern Day! I’m grateful for all the work our interns do to support Team Meng each and every day. Sending a special thank you to our summer 2025 interns – we can’t wait to see all you accomplish in the future.” (July 31, 2025)
Later that afternoon, Meng warned constituents about expected rainfall in New York City: “NYC is expected to see 1-3 inches of rain this afternoon and evening. Stay up to date on local weather warnings, travel advisories, and guidance from local officials before you commute today. More below https://t.co/50bLxCR04U” (July 31, 2025)
As reports of flooding emerged in her district later that day, Meng provided an update regarding ongoing response efforts: “I am aware of flooding in parts of my district and my team and I are in touch with city officials about it. DEP tells us that crews are en route to the LIE, Clearview Expressway and other areas. I’m also told the Clearview flooding is starting to subside. If you have to travel,” (July 31, 2025)
Meng has represented New York’s 6th District since succeeding Gary Ackerman in Congress in 2013. She previously served as a member of the New York State Assembly from 2009 through 2012. Born in Queens in 1975, Meng continues to reside there while serving her constituents.
