Grace Meng, U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 6th district and a resident of Queens, posted a series of statements on August 21, 2025, highlighting her advocacy for senior citizens, healthcare access, and remembrance of Israeli hostages.

In recognition of National Senior Citizen Day, Meng stated: “Today on National Senior Citizen Day we celebrate our seniors living in Queens & across the country. I am committed to lowering healthcare costs and increasing access to care so that our seniors are taken care of!” (August 21, 2025).

Later that day, she addressed the anniversary of an attack by Hamas: “One year ago this week, Hamas murdered six Israeli hostages, including dual US-Israel citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin. As we honor their memories, we think about the 50 hostages remaining in Hamas captivity. We must do everything we can to #BringThemHome now.” (August 21, 2025).

Meng also reiterated her support for Medicaid funding: “Medicaid money goes to our hospitals and community health centers. Everyone benefits from access to high-quality, affordable health care in our communities. I will not stop fighting for Medicaid. Not now, not ever.” (August 21, 2025).

Grace Meng has represented New York’s 6th District in Congress since 2013 after serving in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. She was born in New York City in 1975 and resides in Queens. Meng holds a BA from the University of Michigan and a JD from Yeshiva University.
