Grace Meng, U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 6th district and a Queens resident, recently shared updates on social media about local food, youth technology initiatives, and mental health resources.
On September 7, 2025, Meng highlighted her appreciation for local cuisine by posting: “Nothing beats the food right here in Queens! Had to stop by one of my go-to spots — Joey’s Pizza Stay tuned as I share more of my favorite Queens eats with you!”
Later that day, she encouraged student participation in technology competitions with the post: “Middle & High School Students: Join the Congressional App Challenge! Are you interested in coding & computer science? Do you have an idea for an app? Apply to compete in my Congressional App Challenge. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, October 30, at 12pm EST. Details” This initiative aims to engage students in coding and computer science through a nationwide competition.
On September 8, Meng addressed mental health support services: “The 9-8-8 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides compassionate help anytime, anywhere. I helped pass legislation in Congress establishing this lifeline to ensure that free, confidential, 24/7 support is easily accessible to everyone. #988Day reminds us that hope is a call or text” She referenced her role in passing legislation that established the national crisis hotline.
Meng has represented New York’s 6th District since 2013 after succeeding Gary Ackerman and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born in New York City in 1975 and currently residing in Queens, she holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Yeshiva University.
