U.S. Representative Grace Meng, who represents New York’s 6th district in Congress, addressed public broadcasting and global health initiatives in a series of posts on July 18, 2025.
In a tweet posted at 00:55 UTC, Meng wrote, “Public broadcast stations funded by NPR & PBS provide lifesaving emergency alerts to communities across the country, especially those without internet access. Without them, we leave Americans vulnerable to the next major disaster. The GOP is bringing a bill to the floor to cut https://t.co/kBKu4YuLf6”.
Later that day at 15:29 UTC, Meng shared her experience meeting with Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive Tackle Calvin Anderson on Capitol Hill. She stated, “I had the opportunity to meet with @steelers Offensive Tackle Calvin Anderson on Capitol Hill this week. His moving story about his near-death experience with malaria underscores the urgent need to fund @gavi & other global health programs providing vaccinations & antimalarial https://t.co/ou4PGyLlce”. Grace Meng has served in Congress since 2013 after succeeding Gary Ackerman and previously held office in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born in New York City in 1975 and currently residing in Queens, Meng holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Yeshiva University.
