U.S. Representative Grace Meng, who serves New York’s 6th district and resides in Queens, has recently used her social media platform to highlight economic pressures on families, community concerns over airplane noise, and support for local businesses.
On September 14, Meng addressed rising living costs in a post: “Higher costs are the last thing hardworking families need right now. Congress has the power to act—and it’s time for my Republican colleagues to join us in delivering real relief.”
Later that day, she discussed the impact of aircraft noise on her constituents: “Excessive airplane noise is a problem in Queens day & night. I introduced my Quiet Communities Act to reopen the @EPA’s Office of Noise Control & Abatement to address this. I know my community isn’t the only one dealing with this headache — it’s time for Congress to take action” (September 14).
On September 15, Meng highlighted efforts to bolster small businesses following a meeting with Small Business Administration Regional Administrator Matt Coleman: “Great to catch up with @SBAgov Regional Administrator Matt Coleman on Capitol Hill! In Queens, small businesses are the backbone of our community. I’m proud to work with him to make sure local business owners & entrepreneurs have the resources they need to thrive.”
Meng has represented New York’s 6th District in Congress since 2013 after serving in the New York State Assembly from 2009-2012. She succeeded Gary Ackerman as representative and is an alumna of both University of Michigan and Yeshiva University. Born in New York City in 1975, Meng currently lives in Queens.
