Grace Meng, U.S. Congresswoman representing New York’s 6th district since 2013, used her social media account on September 17, 2025, to highlight community events and legislative priorities including public safety, education, and healthcare.

On the morning of September 17, Meng promoted a local preparedness event by posting: “#ICYMI @NYCWater is holding a free flooding preparedness town hall TONIGHT at 6:30pm! Stop by and take home a free flood preparedness kit with a sump pump, flood barrier, and a flood sensor alarm. Details https://t.co/oBjtqI6Taf”.

Later that afternoon, she addressed campus safety for students at minority-serving institutions. In her post at 15:41 UTC, Meng wrote: “Every student deserves to feel safe on campus. I fought in the House Appropriations Committee to ensure that students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and other minority-serving institutions have the resources they need when faced with domestic violence, https://t.co/18rJ2S6CaB”.

In another post on the same day at 17:41 UTC, Meng commented on healthcare policy: “Affordable Care Act tax credits keep health coverage affordable for millions of Americans. If Republicans let them lapse, families across the country will face higher premiums. Democrats are working to extend these savings—our colleagues across the aisle must join us.”

Meng has represented New York’s 6th District in Congress since succeeding Gary Ackerman in 2013. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. Born in New York City in 1975 and currently residing in Queens, Meng holds degrees from the University of Michigan (BA) and Yeshiva University (JD).
