Grace Meng, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 6th district since 2013, has posted several statements on her official Twitter account addressing issues related to former President Donald Trump, immigration enforcement, and public safety funding.

On February 25, 2026, Meng commented on the financial gains of the Trump family during his presidency: “Trump’s family wealth jumped almost $4 billion in his second term. If he’s looking for corruption, he doesn’t need to look far.”

In another post from the same day, Meng addressed concerns regarding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) practices and transparency: “We can’t give ICE a blank check to keep brutalizing our communities. Until there’s transparency, body cams, judicial warrants, and real accountability for agents who violate rights. I cannot in good conscience vote for a DHS funding bill knowing that ICE has violently detained”.

Later that morning, she criticized actions taken by former President Trump concerning gun violence prevention programs: “Trump shut down gun violence prevention efforts and cut $300 million from community safety programs. That’s not tough on crime—it’s a threat to public safety.”

Meng has served in Congress since succeeding Gary Ackerman in 2013 after previously holding office in the New York State Assembly from 2009 to 2012. She was born in New York City in 1975 and resides in Queens. Meng is an alumna of the University of Michigan and Yeshiva University.
